Select a city in North Carolina
As you probably already know, Carolina barbecue means only one thing: pork. Featuring a vinegar-based sauce, Carolina style barbeque is unlike any other in the country. It's only in North Carolina that you will see locals, tourists, businessmen and everyone in between, chowing down at the counter on pulled pork, chicken, beef brisket and ribs. North Carolina also offers sweet deserts. The Krispy Kreme doughnut company was founded in North Carolina. Moravian holiday cookies can still be had from the bakeries in the Winston-Salem area, and famous fruitcakes bakeries are found in Chatham County. Of course, North Carolina restaurants also offer contemporary American meals for both the casual and up-scale diners. French bistros, steakhouses, burger joints and soul food are scattered across the state, and coastal communities feature regional seafood restaurants that can compete with those found on any other coast.
