About Homestake Chop House

The elegant Homestake Chop House Restaurant is located in the Black Hills-Fort Pierre Railroad Roundhouse, built by the Homestake Mining Company in 1901. The facility serviced and repaired engines for the Black Hills-Fort Pierre Railroad and Deadwood Central Railroad. By the 1990s the building had fallen into disrepair and the City of Lead decided to have it torn down. A local businessman purchased the building to save the last railroad structure in town.
